Celebrating 25 years

In the summer of 1993, production began on "The Shawshank Redemption," Destined to become a motion picture classic. Key scenes in the movie were filmed here in Wyandot County, with many area residents appearing as "extras" in these scenes. The Ohio History Connection has selected these filming locations as having historical significance, in large part due to the movies international acclaim, and has commissioned the placement of markers at these sites.
