January Market Update

Natural Gas NYMEX - Recent Trading
The only thing moving faster than natural gas prices is Cardale Jones’ dramatic move to the top of the College Football world. Just days before Jones lead Ohio State to the Big 10 Championship title, natural gas for the month of December was settling at $4.28 in response to a very cold November. However, by the time Jones was ready to lead Ohio State past Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on January 1st, natural gas had moved lower and was trading below $3.00 in response to a warmer than usual December. As such, the market has since traded at or around the $3.00 level and just as Jones lead Ohio State to the first ever College Football Playoff Championship, gas for February was trading at $2.92. So whether it’s a college football national championship, or lower natural gas prices, there is a lot to be happy about right now.
