Ohio gov announces first-ever police standards board

Columbus, Ohio — Gov. John Kasich has announced the creation of Ohio’s first-ever police standards board governing the proper use of deadly force, recruiting and hiring.
The board will also create standards for police agencies involving local community interaction, such as addressing safety issues and educating people on the daily challenges faced by officers.
Kasich said Wednesday that police officers and community members will sit on the 12-member Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board.
