New unemployment numbers for July show Wyandot County has the 4th lowest rate in Ohio at 3.6% unemployment.

JOB CREATION IS UP
Ohioans have created 330,700 new private sector jobs since Gov. Kasich came into office in January 2011. Ohio continues to be one of the top ten job creating states in the nation. Currently, there are 4.6 million Ohioans with a private sector job.

UNEMPLOYMENT CONTINUES TO IMPROVE.
Since January 2011, Ohio’s unemployment rate has improved from 9.1% to 5.0% today. This is the lowest Ohio’s unemployment rate has been since 2001. Under Gov. Kasich, this is the 45th month Ohio’s unemployment rate has been better than the nation’s. For comparison, this only happened twice under the previous administration.

INCOMES ARE UP:
Since January 2011, Ohio incomes are growing faster than the national rate.
Average weekly wage growth from January 2011 to July 2015:

JOB RETENTION IS UP.
More Ohioans are staying on the job – First-time jobless numbers in 2014 reflected the 2nd fewest first-time jobless claims on record going back to 1987. To date in 2015, first-time jobless claims are running below last year’s pace by 7.0%, putting Ohio on track to reach an all-time low for first-time jobless claims. Additionally, first-time jobless claims in July were nearly half of what they were in the same month back in 2010.

NEW BUSINESSES ARE BEING CREATED.
In 2014, 93,775 businesses entities were created in Ohio, the most in state history and surpassing the old record set in 2013. So far in 2015, Ohioans have created 59,862 new businesses – a pace that puts Ohio ahead of where we were last year.

POVERTY IS DOWN.
New data from the U.S. Census shows Ohio’s poverty rate decreased from 16.3% to 16.0%. This is the second straight year poverty has gone down in Ohio – the first time that’s happened since 2007. Ohio’s poverty rate decreased three times faster than the national rate.
