Celebrate and Explore the Palace Theatre’s historic Wurlitzer Organ on September 27
Patrons will have the opportunity to celebrate and explore the Marion Palace theatre’s historic Wurlitzer organ on Sunday, September 27 at 3pm.
The prized 1924 organ has been a fixture in the Palace since the theatre’s 1976 renovations, replacing the original Page organ. The Wurlitzer boasts more than 700 pipes which are designed to create the sounds of a full orchestra including percussion instruments, bells, chimes, whistles and horns. Once a mainstay instrument of many theatres across the country, few Wurlitzer Organs exist today and a fewer number of organists who are proficient players.
During the September 27 show, audience members will experience a short silent film accompanied by a guest organist and enjoy selections and sing-a-long numbers by local organists, Father Buffer, Angela Carbetta and Greg McDonald. After the show, patrons have the chance to play a piece of music and enjoy pizza on the Palace stage.
Tickets for PEDALS, PIPES & PIZZA at the Marion Palace Theatre are $15 and cover the cost of pizza. Tickets may be purchased at the Palace box office, 276 W. Center St. in downtown Marion or by phone at 740/383-2101. Tickets may also be purchased online 24/7 www.marionpalace.org. Box office hours are 9:00am-5:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and closed Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
