The Chamber of Commerce hosts a Voter Forum on Wednesday, October 14th
Upper Sandusky, OH, September 24, 2015:The Upper Sandusky Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Voters Forum on Wednesday, October 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Upper Sandusky High School Auditorium, 800 N. Sandusky Ave. Light refreshments will be provided. The forum is open to the public.
The evening will feature introductions by the 2015 local candidates, along with presentations of levy and bond issues on the ballots in Wyandot County. We have invited the following candidates to speak: Rich Thompson: Ohio Chamber, to speak on Issues 1, 2, and 3, Upper Sandusky & Carey Board of Education candidates, Candidates for the Village Council for Kirby, Nevada and Sycamore as well as the Township Trustees from: Antrim, Crane, Crawford, Eden, Jackson, Marseilles, Mifflin, Pitt, Richland, Ridge, Salem, Sycamore, and Tymochtee.
The levies to be presented are: Tax Levy Renewals: Richland Township renewal, Marseilles Township renewal, Wyandot East Fire District renewal, Village of Marseilles renewal, Upper Sandusky Exempted Village Schools, Village of Harpster renewal, and Village of Sycamore renewal.
Tax Levy Renewals in: Richland and Marseilles Township, Village of Marseilles, Sycamore, and Harpster, and Wyandot East Fire District
Issues 1, 2, and 3, will be presented by Richard Thompson Director of Ohio Chamber.
Issue 1: This topic refers to ballot measures regarding the process, guidelines and commissions related to redistricting. Redistricting involves the redrawing of boundary lines for state legislative and U.S. Congressional districts.
Issue 2: This topic refers to ballot measures regarding direct democracy. Such measures may include questions about the initiative and referendum process, petition circulation requirements and signature filing amendments.
Issue 3: This topic refers to ballot measures regarding the sales, use, and growth of marijuana. It also covers penalties imposed for possession.
Each candidate/presenter is asked to give a short self-introduction and then present their views and comments. Time permitting we will open the floor for questions.
