The 2016 Young Playwrights Group (YPG) is proud to announce “Masks” by Katie Homburg as the winning manuscript that will be produced into an onstage production. The world premiere of “Masks” will take stage 7 p.m. April 28th at The Marathon Center for the Performing Arts located at 200 W. Main Cross St in Findlay. The performance is free for the public to enjoy. A free-will donation will be collected to benefit The Arts Partnership’s Youtheatre Program.

“Masks” explores the young character Maxwell’s journey of reinvention and what lessons he learns along the way not only about himself, but others as well.”

The winning manuscript was chosen by a panel of area theatre professionals based on its story structure and plot development. “Masks” will now be produced onstage by The Arts Partnership.

Beginning in January, students in YPG met on a regular basis with area theatre professionals, Sara Hingson and Kim Forget, with the purpose of learning the craft of playwriting. Project goals encouraged creative expression through scriptwriting and provided opportunity for studying and analyzing existing theatrical work. YPG is open to students in grades 6-12.

Students participating in YPG will also serve as the core group of performers for “Masks.” Sara Hingson will serve as director.

Previous winners of YPG include:

2012 – David Spears, Atoll’s Secrets
