WYANDOT COUNTY, Ohio (WCFB) - Wyandot County Farm Bureau is hitting the road for some learning and fun! Join us on July 23 for a tour by ATV (4-Wheeler) or UTV (Gator, Kubota, etc.) or your own passenger vehicle of choice to local dairy and beef cattle farms and DeLong's Grain Company.

We will be visiting West Lincoln Holsteins - owned by Kevin and Tina Boes - where participants will tour the farm and learn more about how milk is produced. Abbi Hasting's from the USDA's local arm of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Melissa Hanner, NRCS Soil Scientist for NW Ohio will be on hand to explain soil health and examine a soil pit dug on the farm. The tour of Mike Thiel's farm will include his beef cattle operation - while they are all often called “cows" participants will learn the difference in beef and dairy breeds as well as the different terms for cattle. The last stop will be DeLong Grain Company in Kirby, OH which ships millions of bushels of food grade corn and soybeans raised in northwest Ohio to international markets. In addition the Wyandot County EMS will be on hand for a grain bin tube rescue demonstration and talk about how dangerous climbing into a wagon, or bin of grain, can be.

We will begin at 8:30 a.m. with check in at St. Mary's Center, Kirby OH and return there for lunch.

ALL ATV OPERATERS MUST BE OF LEGAL AGE AND ATVS MUST BE OPERATED AS INTENDED (NO PASSENGERS IF NOT DESIGNED FOR THEM).

Sponsored by DeLong Grain Company, Hempy Water and Wyandot County Farm Bureau, Wyandot County SWCD and local NRCS.
