Progress Made with the Wyandot Employment Task Force

November 20, 2018, Upper Sandusky, Ohio: Through the efforts of the Wyandot Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors during their strategic development forum held in July 2018, which included members and community input survey, the Chamber identified workforce, as one of three major issues for the Chamber to address.  Chamber Director, Jason Eibling of Freedom Corner and chief facilitator, took the lead in developing a partnership between the Wyandot Chamber of Commerce and the Wyandot County Office of Economic Development.  Having concluded their meetings for 2018, the Wyandot Employment Task Force plans for expansion in 2019.
“Beginning with the January meeting, we’ve identified an aggressive plan to develop the workforce, retain and attract workers current and future. Through creative and thoughtful collaboration, we look forward to a fantastic period of employment growth in Wyandot County. We are excited to continue the amazing plans with our current members and inviting some new members with great ideas!”
Greg Moon, Director of Economic Development, noted, “The Wyandot Employment Task Force is the first concerted effort in our county that has brought together all ‘Five Communities of Interest,' those stakeholders that play a crucial role in workforce development, specifically to tackle the local issues surrounding workforce.  These communities of interest include Business, Government, Community organizations, Education, and Local Talent.  All of these communities must be engaged and motivated to make headway in alleviating this top difficulty faced by local employers."
Many of the major employers and industry representatives have joined in the mission to “Passionately connect talent with employment opportunities."  In a few short months, the Task Force has been successful in identifying many root causes of the various unfilled job openings for area employers. Frank Gibson, facilitator spoke of the early successes.
“The Wyandot Employment Task Force is a CommUNITY Collaborative. This network approach is very agile and very action-oriented.”
“The goal of collaborations is to bring individuals, agencies, organizations, and community members together in an atmosphere of support to systematically solve existing and emerging problems that could not easily be solved by one group alone.” Adapted from: Collaboration Framework Addressing Community Capacity
"When the right people are brought together in constructive ways and with the appropriate information, they can create powerful visions and robust strategies for change." - From "Building Collaborative Communities"   by Scott London
